২৫৬ g আমার বোম্বাই প্রবাস কিন্তু এই উদ্দেশ্রসিদ্ধির নিমিত্ত শাস্ত্রের সহযোগিতা চাই, শাস্ত্রনিরপেক্ষ যুক্তি অবলম্বনে আত্মমত সমর্থন করা সুসাধ্য নহে ইহা তিনি বিলক্ষণ বুঝেন। উপনিষদ ও গীতাদি শাস্ত্রের যে সার শিক্ষা - যে শিক্ষা বলে সাম্য মৈত্রী মনুষ্যত্ব প্রশ্রয় পায়, যাহা বিভিন্ন জাতির মধ্যে একতাবন্ধনের সাধনীভূত, সেই বলপ্রয়োগ করিয়া তিনি সমাজ-সংস্কার কার্য্যে সিদ্ধিলাভের আশা করিতেছেন। সেই তন্ত্র ধারণ করিয়া জাতীয় বন্ধন স্থাপন উদ্দেশে তিনি আর্য্যসঙ্ঘ প্রতিষ্ঠায় কৃতসঙ্কল্প হয় জাতীয় সমিতি আহবান করিতেছেন। র্তাহার এই সাধু চেষ্টা অভিনন্দনীয়। তিনি এই কার্য্যে জয়যুক্ত হউন এই আমার একান্ত কামনা। আর্য্যসভেম্বর আমন্ত্রণপত্র নিম্নে পাদটীকায় প্রকাশিত হইল : — THE ARY AN BROTHER HOOD, A N ANTI CASTE CON FERENCE The following has been issued by the Aryan Brotherhood of Bombay' of which Mr. Justice Chandavarkar is the President. It is generally felt by the enlightened portion of the Hindu community, and even the orthodox section of it have corne to realise, to some extent, that a more sustained and organized effort than has up to now been attempted must be made to correct the evils of certain social customs, which either under cover of Shastras or of immemorial usage, have retarded the progress of the community, and checked the growth of a spirit of union and fellow-feeling among the numerous, castes which compose it. Religious bodies and Social Reform Associatians have indeed borne their share in propagating the principles of social reform suited to the requirements of the present times ; and it is due to them, and to the enlightening character of British Rule, that public opinion in the Hindu community regards social rescrim with greater sympathy now than was the case 20 or 25 years ago. The main cause of the weakness of the Hindu community’ is its institution of caste in the form in which it has existed for centuries. On this point no doubt a serious difference of opinion still prevails, but the more thoughtful of Hindus perceive that owing to its innumerable congeries of castes, the community has suffered from disintegrating forces that have sapped its energy and vitality. This is the root of the social evil ; and it is to it mainly that the propaganda of social reform must now be directed. With this view the Aryan Brotherhood has been "established. By bringing together members of different castes of the Hindu community and setting a practical example in the matter of caste reform, it has initiated a work which, it is hoped, will materially further the cause of solid progress.
