পত্র ৩৬ । রবীন্দ্রনাথের কাছে লিখিত অ্যাণ্ডারসনের একাধিক পত্রে 'চোখের বালি’ তার প্রিয় গ্রন্থরূপে উল্লিখিত হয়। ১২ মে ১৯১৩-তে তিনি রবীন্দ্রনাথকে যে চিঠি লেখেন তাতে জানা যায় যে "Asiatic Quarterly’-তে প্রকাশের জন্য 'চোখের বালি’ সম্পর্কে তিনি একটা প্রবন্ধ পাঠিয়েছেন। এই প্রবন্ধটি 'CHOKHER BALI' নামে * Asiatic Quarterly’-র জুলাই ( ১৯১৩ ) সংখ্যায় মুদ্রিত হয় । এতে মূল উপন্যাসটির একটি সংক্ষিপ বিবরণ এবং পরে পরিচিতি হিসাবে মূল উপন্যাসের শেষাংশ থেকে কিছু অংশ–প্রবাসযাপনের পব মহেন্দ্রর প্রত্যাবর্তন, রাজলক্ষ্মীর আসন্ন মৃত্যুর অব্যবহিত পূর্বে আশা ও মহেন্দ্রর পুনর্মিলন পর্যস্ত তৰ্জমা করে দেওয়া হয় । §°izio Zoo  # of Río : ‘I am conscious that this is but a rough rendering of a poet's prose, and it needs some daring to attempt a translation of the work of one who can put his own verses into English which has almost all the charm of the original ...
