পত্র ১৬ পত্র ১৬ । ‘বিংশ শতাব্দীতে নৈবেদ্যের যে-সমালোচনা' ব্ৰহ্মবান্ধব উপাধ্যtয় তাহার Twentieth Century পত্রের ( প্রকাশ ১৯০১ ) ৩১ জুলাই ১৯৭১ তারিখের সংখ্যায় নরহরি দাস এই ছদ্মনামে নৈবেদ্য কাব্যগ্রন্থের ( আষাঢ় ১৩০৮ ) সুদীর্ঘ সমালোচনা প্রকাশ করিয়াছিলেন ; ঐ পত্রিকা দুষ্প্রাপ্য বলিয়া, রচনার নিদৰ্শন-রূপে কয়েক ছত্র উদদ্ভুত হইল— ‘Naivedya is a natural offering of the human heart to the Divine— an offering of joy and sorrow, of struggle and fruition, of all-embracing love, of national aspiration and desire for union with the Unrelated....In all places of worship, be they Christian, Muhamedan or Hindu, the hundred sonnets can be recited or sung without scruple...The poet has sung again the old song of the Upanishads in a new strain and let it rise as a cry of our people to heaven, as a memorial for Divine grace...Naivedya is the essence of Bhakti made compatible with the knowledge of the transcendent Reality before whose splendour the shadow of relationship is changed into light. The sonnets are like so many brilliant pearls illuminated with Divine grace...' এই সমালোচনাস্থত্রেই ব্ৰহ্মবান্ধব উপাধ্যায়ের সহিত রবীন্দ্রনাথের পরিচয় ঘনিষ্ঠ হয় ; জীবনের শেষ পর্ব পর্যন্ত রবীন্দ্রনাথ এই সমালোচনার কথা বারবার স্মরণ করিয়াছেন। ‘আক্ৰমবিদ্যালয়ের সূচনা প্রবন্ধে ( ১৩৪১ ) রবীন্দ্রনাথ লিখিয়াছেন— ३०७
