Of its scientific merit, I cannot presume to be a judge; but the unprecedentedly brilliant academic career of the author is a sufficient guarantee for it. Its language has a peculiar charm ; the author rather suggests than beats out a thought ;–a charm which according to certain eminent critics constitutes the special attribute of poetry as distinguished from prose. Besides this, a quiet humour pervades almost every line of the book. These are merits discoverable by every one who with some care will read Prof. Trivedi's book ; it is needless to add how valuable an addition it must be to our rather poor store of readable Bengali books.
