ঢের শ্রেষ্ঠ সৈন্য ছিল তাহারদের সম্মুখসম্মুখেই সেকন্দরশাহ ঐ নদী পদব্রজে পার হইয়া স্বীয় সৈন্যেরদের মধ্যে বীর্য্যোৎসাহ জন্মাইয়া বিপক্ষকে সম্যকরূপে পরাজয় করিলেন। রাজ্যের প্রধান ওমরা বিপক্ষেরদের অনেক সেনাপতি ঐ যুদ্ধে হত হয় কিন্তু সেকন্দরশাহ অত্যন্ত সুশীলতাতে তাহারদের উপযুক্তমত সমাধি ক্রিয়া করাইলেন। গ্রীষ্মকাল অতীত হইলে তিনি স্বীয় সৈন্যের অধিকাংশেরদিগকে শার্ডিস নগরে শীত কাল ক্ষেপণার্থ প্রেরণ করিলেন এবং নব বিবাহিত তাঁহার যত সেনাপতি ও সৈন্য ছিল তাহারদিগকে স্ব২ বাটী গমনার্থ ছুটি দিলেন। তাঁহার এই নিশ্চয় বােধ ছিল যে এতদ্রূপ সচ্ছলতা প্রকাশ করাতে ভূরি২ নূতন সৈন্য আমার নিকটে আসিবে। পরন্তু তিনি স্বয়ং কিছুমাত্র বিশ্রাম না করিয়া এক দল বাচা সৈন্য লইয়া ক্ষুদ্র আসিয়ার সমুদ্রতীরস্থ স্থল দিয়া গমনপূর্ব্বক আসিয়াস্থ গ্রীকীয়েরদের নিবাস স্থান সকল অধিকার করি
