গকে নিবারণ করিতে অক্ষম হইয়া রোমানেরদের সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করিলেন কিন্তু রােমানেরা সাহায্য করণবিষয়ে গতিক্রিয়া করাতে কাম্পানীয় উকীলেরা স্বদেশস্থ লোক কর্ত্তৃক পূর্ব্বে সুশিক্ষিত হইয়া কহিলেন যে আপনারদিগকে ও আপনারদের দেশ ও যথাসর্বস্ব তােমারদিগকে আমরা সমর্পণ করিলাম। তাহাতে রোমানেরা অগৌণে এতদ্রূপ অর্পণবিষয়ে সমিনীয়েরদিগকে সম্বাদ প্রেরণ করিয়া কহিলেন যে কাম্পানীয়েরা এইক্ষণে রােমানেরদের প্রজা হইল অতএব তােমরা তাহারদিগকে এতদ্রূপ ক্লেশ দেওয়া রহিত কর। সমিনীয়েরা অতিগর্ব্বপূর্ব্বক তাহা স্বীকৃত না হওয়াতে যুদ্ধ ঘটিল। ঐ যুদ্ধ ষাটি বৎসর ব্যাপিয়া থাকে পরিশেষে রোমানেরা তাবৎ দক্ষিণ ইটালি দেশ অধিকার করেন।
