নিমিত্ত ব্যগ্র ছিলেন যে উক্ত সেনাপতি ফিম্ব্রিয়া আসিয়াতে পঁহুছিবামাত্র রাজার এক পুত্ত্রকে পরাভূত করিয়া রাজাকেও পিটানিস্ স্থানে অবরুদ্ধ করিলেন। ফিম্ব্রিয়া এতদ্রূপে কৃতকার্য্য হইয়া ত্রয় নগরের চতুর্দ্দিগ লুঠপাট করেন তাহাতে সিল্লা অতিশীঘ্র আসিয়াতে আগমন করিলেন। অপর হেলেসপণ্ট উত্তীর্ণ হইবামাত্র মিথ্রিডাটিস সিল্লার সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করিয়া সিল্লার নির্দ্দিষ্ট নিয়মানুসারেই সন্ধি করিলেন। সেই নিয়ম এই যে মিথ্রিডাটিস ক্ষুদ্র আসিয়া ও পাতাগোনিয়া প্রদেশ রোমানেরদিগকে বেন এবং বিথিনিয়া ও কাপাডোকিয়া রাজ্য তত্তদেশীয় রাজাকে ফিরিয়া দিবেন এবং ৪০ লক্ষ টাকা ও ৭০ খান যুদ্ধ জাহাজ দিবেন। সন্ধির নিয়ম এইরূপ স্থির হইলে সিল্লা ফিম্ব্রিয়ার প্রতিকূলে যাত্রা করিলেন তিনি স্বীয় ভূরি২ সৈন্যেরদিগকে পলায়ন করিতে দেখিয়া তলবারের আঘাতে আপনিই আত্মঘাতী হইলেন। পরে আ
