দীয়েরা কেবল কৃষিব্যবসায়ী এবং অতিনির্ধন ছিলেন কিন্তু তাঁহারদের ঐশ্বর্যসম্পৃহা ক্রমশঃ বৃদ্ধি হইতে লাগিল। রাজার কোন রাজঅট্টালিকা বা দেশে কোন রাজধানী ছিল না। অপর শাউলের মরণােত্তর দাউদ য়িহুদীয়েরদের উপর রাজস্বকরণার্থ ঈশ্বরকর্ত্তৃক মনােনীত হইয়া সিংহাসনােপবিষ্ট হইলেন। কিন্তু য়িহুদীয়েরদের কেবল এক গােষ্ঠী দাউদকে রাজারূপে স্বীকার করিল অবশিষ্ট এগার গােষ্ঠী শাউলের বংশাধীন হইয়া থাকিল। অপর দাউদের সিংহাসনােপবেশনের সাতবৎসর পরে শাউলের পুত্র মরিলে য়িশরাএলীয় তাবৎ গােষ্ঠীরা দাউদের প্রভূত্ব স্বীকার করেন এবং জেবুসিয়েরদের হস্তহইতে দাউদ য়িরূশালম নগর জয় করিয়া তাহা স্বীয় সামাজ্যের রাজধানী করেন এবং আপনার তাবৎ শত্রুগণকে বার২ জয় করিয়া ঐ য়িহুদীয় দেশ এমত সুসমৃদ্ধ করিলেন যে তাহার পূর্ব্বাপর তদ্রূপ কখন দৃষ্ট হয় নাই। দাউদের রাজ্য ফিনি
