$ዓ¢ ভারতবর্ষ । আলবারুণির প্রকৃত অনুবাদ কি না । সে অনুসন্ধানে কেহ কেহ ব্রিণোর অনুবাদকে ভ্রমসম্বুল প্ৰতিপন্ন করেন। সে সম্বন্ধে অধ্যাপক রাইট, মিষ্টার রেহাটুসেক এবং এইচ সি কে এবং পরিশেষে মিষ্টার ফ্রিট বিবিধ সিদ্ধান্তে উপনীত হন। প্ৰসঙ্গক্রমে তাহ উল্লেখ করিতেছি। ১৮৮৬ খৃষ্টাব্দে মিঃ রেহাটুসেক আলাবারুণির গ্রন্থের অন্তর্গত পুৰ্বোক্ত অংশের অনুবাদ প্ৰকাশ করেন । সে অনুবাদ অনুসারে বিতণ্ডামূলক অংশের মৰ্ম্ম স্থির হয়,-“গুপ্তগণ নিষ্ঠুর ও দুর্দান্ত জাতি। তঁহাদের ধ্বংস হইবার পরেও তঁহাদের গণনা-পদ্ধতি অনুসারে কালগণনা হইত।” মিষ্টার এইস সি কের অনুবাদক্রমে বুঝা যায়,-“তঁহাদের দ্বারা অথবা তাহাদের অনুসরণে কালগণনা হয়।” মিষ্টার কে পূর্বোক্ত অনুবাদের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মন্তব্য প্ৰকাশ করেন-গ্ৰন্থকারের (আলাবারুণির) মন্তব্য দুৰ্বোধ্য। কিন্তু গ্ৰন্থকারের উক্তির তাৎপৰ্য্য এই বলিয়া মনে হয় যে,-গুপ্তরাজগণ যে ‘কাল’ ব্যবহার করিতেন, তঁহাদের উচ্ছেদের পরও র্তাহাদের অনুসরণে সেইরূপ কাল-গণনা হইত, অথবা তাহদের গণনা-পদ্ধতি তৎকালে সকলেই অনুসরণ করিত। কিন্তু যখন তঁহাদের ধ্বংস সাধিত হয়’ বলিতে সাধারণতঃ ধ্বংসের সময় হইতে গুপ্তকাল গণনা আরম্ভ হয়,-“এইরূপ অর্থই মনে আসে। কে-র মতে শেষোক্ত ব্যাখ্যাই সমীচীন। tি মিষ্টার ব্লকম্যানের মন্তব্যও সমস্যা-সমাধানের অনুকুল নহে। তিনিও আলবারুশির যে অনুবাদ করিয়াছেন, তাহাতেও সেই একই সংশয় রহিয়া গিয়াছে। আলবারুণির মন্তব্যের অনুবাদে মিষ্টার ব্লকম্যান বলিয়াছেন,-“গুপ্তকাল সম্বন্ধে এই বলা যায় যে,-তাহারা ক্রুরপ্ৰকৃতিসম্পন্ন এবং শক্তিশালী ছিলেন । তঁহাদের উচ্ছেদ-সাধনের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তাহদের অনুসরণে কালগণনা ( অব্দ সুচনা ) হইয়াছিল।” : t ESSBDB SSLLLS LLLLLLLLSSDS iOBS KBYE DttLEDDS DDDS gSSLLLLL SLLLLL regards) the Gupta Era it was, as is said, a nation wicked (and) strong; and when they perished, dating was made according to them, f fit cars frt cy.
