নবাবগঞ্জের মণ্ডলপরিবার from Government when damage, beyond ordinary wear & tear, was done by the Military Department. The answer given to their petition failed to satisfy the brothers, and it does not please the son of Sridhar Mandal, the present representative of the family. In fact it is calculated to damp the liberal energies of a public spirited man who has already shown signs of a readiness to promote works for the public good. I am convinced that unwillingly an injustice has been done and as it is never too late to right a wrong, I beg to request that you will lay the matter before Government in view of a fresh representation being made to His Excellency the Commander-in-chief, All that Babu Adita Charan Mandal desires is that the Military Department who damaged the road will repair it, or provide him with the necessary funds for the purpose. The spirit of liberality which characterised public actions of the father & uncle is likely to be continued in the son if not unduly checked and I earnestly hope that Government in the Military Department may be induced to reconsider the former order. I have &c. (Sd): W. H. Grimley, Magistrate & Chairman. Menao No. 21. D. B. Copy forwarded to Babu Adita Charan Mandal with reference to his letter No. 164 dated 27th February 1889. The papers received with his letter are returned to him. 24-Pargs Dist. Boards Office (Sd) W. H. Grimley, Dated Alipur, the 13th Apr. 89. Magistrate & Chairman.
