Mr Wilson has asked me to apologies for the delay in replying to your letter about (he sad situation in East Pakistan. The pressure of correspondence on this and other issues has been so heavy that it has been impossible to answer as quickly as we would have liked. At Mr. Wilson's request, I am enclosing a copy of the Statement on Pakistan supported unanimously by the Labor Party at the annual conference at Brighton in early October.” This statement was immediately forwarded both to the British Government and to the Secretary General of the United Nations.
