f ००२ ] কল্পনা করিয়াছেন, তাহ প্রকৃত নহে। ধূমঘাট ও যশোর পরম্পর সংলগ্ন। ভবিষ্যপুরাণে ধূমঘাট সম্বন্ধে এইরূপ লিখিত আছে – - “যশোরদেশবিষয়ে যমুনেচ্ছাপ্রসঙ্গমে । ধূম্ৰঘট্ৰপত্তনে চ ভবিষ্যন্তি ন সংশয়: ॥” যমুনেচ্ছার প্রসঙ্গম বলিলে যমুনা ও ইচ্ছামতী যেস্থানে প্রথমে মিলিত হয়, তাহাই বুঝাইয়া থাকে। গোবরডাঙ্গার নিকট টিপি নামক স্থানেই যমুনা ও ইচ্ছামতী মিলিত হয়। কিন্তু ভবিষ্যপুরাণে যাহাকে যমুনেচ্ছার প্রসঙ্গম বলা হইয়াছে, তাহ প্রকৃত প্রস্তাবে যমুনেচ্ছার বিচ্ছেদ। তবে দক্ষিণ হইতে উক্ত বিভক্ত নদী দুইটি বাহিয়া গেলে উক্ত স্থানকে তাহার মিলনও বলা যাইতে পারে। সম্ভবতঃ এইজন্য উক্ত স্থানকে যমুনা ও ইচ্ছামতীর প্রসঙ্গম বলা হইয়াছে। ঈশ্বরীপুর বা যশোরের অব্যবহিত উত্তরে যমুনা ও ইচ্ছামতী বিভক্ত হইয়া সুন্দরবনে প্রবেশ করিয়াছে, পরে নানা শাখায় বিভক্ত হইয়া সমুদ্রে পতিত হইয়াছে। Major Ralph Smyth Statistical and Geographical Report of the 24 Pergunnah District (1857) is goto এইরূপ f#f*E[[tE#,–“ Its {Nokeepoor Pergunah's) principal village is 'Issureepoor', commonly known as 'Jessore', Syamnuggur is also a village of note.
