  • * * It is a pity that our countrymen forget sometimes to honour the memory of the illustrious dead. In August 1887 Dr. Ram Das Sen of Berhampur died suddenly in a Village of Nadia, and when the news of the melancholy event reached Berhampur, the people of the town, to express their grief and gratitude to him, convened a meeting to commemorate his memory by raising public subscriptions. * * * * Dr. Sen possessed a splendid library at Berhampur and himself being an antiquarian deciphered a good many books which were far from the notice of the literary world. His Aitihasik Rahasya and life of Buddha, displayed his merit as an oriental scholar. * * * Berhampur and the adjacent places have the reputation of being the abode of the wealthy, and it is surely a pity that such a noble work should collapse for want of funds,

We are fallen indeed, when we fail to admire and appreciate the ideals of greatness amongst us.
