Hh গিরিশচন্দ্র বিদ্যাৱস্তু কালেজ ত্যাগ করিতে হইল, ২০ টাকা স্কলাশিপ ভোগ করিতে BBBB BS SDtBB BBB BBBB SBBBDSDBBBD জীবন-চরিত’, পৃ. ৮-১১ । গিরিশচন্দ্র ১২ বৎসর ৫ মাস সংস্কৃত কলেজে অধ্যয়ন করেন ; তন্মধ্যে এক বৎসর সংস্কৃত কলেজের ইংরেজী-বিভাগের দ্বিতীয় শিক্ষক শুীমাচরণ শৰ্ম্ম সরকারের নিকট ইংরেজী ভাষা শিক্ষা করিয়াছিলেন । তিনি ১৮৪৪ খ্ৰীষ্টাব্দের জামুয়ারি মাসে সংস্কৃত কলেজ ত্যাগ করেন। এই সময় ফোর্ট উইলিয়ম কলেজের সেক্রেটরী ও সংস্কৃত কলেজের পরীক্ষক জি. টি. মার্শাল তাছাকে যে প্রশংসাপত্ৰ দিয়াছিলেন, তাছা নিম্নে উদ্ভূত করিতেছি :– Certified that the bearer, Girees Chunder Shurma, was a distinguished pupil of the Govt. Santkrit College, fin which he studied 12 years and which he bas just been obliged to quit owing to the expiry of the time fixed for the college course. He stood third last year and first this year, on both which occasions I conducted the examinations. He was last year awarded a scholarship of 15 Rs, a month, and has frequently obtained Prizes. He bas studied every branch of Sanskrit Literature and Science taught in the Inetitution with success and will no doubt in due time get a certificate to that effect. Amongst the Santkrit Eseays of this year, the subject of which was “Benevolence" his Essay ranked the first. He is a very intelligent and well-disposed young man. College of Fort William G. T.
