লিখিত আদিম ইতিহাসে দেখিতে পাইতেছি যে, “কারারক্ষিগণ সিরাজ- দ্দৌলাকে নিশীথ সময়ে দস্যু তস্করের ন্যায় শৃঙ্খলাবদ্ধকলেবরে মীরজাফরের সম্মুখে উপনীত করিয়া দিল;—যে রাজপ্রাসাদে কিছুদিন পূর্ব্বে সিরাজদ্দৌলা অখণ্ড প্রতাপে রাজগৌরব সম্ভোগ করিতেন, সেই রাজপ্রাসাদেই তাহাকে বন্দিবেশে প্রবেশ করিতে হইল! মীরজাফরও ইহা দেখিয়া বিগলিত হই- লেন সিরাজ তাহার নিকট পুনঃ পুনঃ জীবনভিক্ষা করিতে লাগিলেন, মীরজাফর সে দৃশ্য সহ করিতে না পারিয়া স্থানান্তরে লইয়া যাইতে আদেশ প্রচার করিলেন!”[১]
সিরাজদ্দৌলা স্থানান্তরে নীত হইলেন বটে, কিন্তু মীরজাফর তাঁহার ভাগ্যনির্ণয়ের জন্য তৎক্ষণাৎ মন্ত্রণা করিতে বসিলেন। এই সময়ে রাজ- কার্যোপলক্ষে পাত্রমিত্রগণ সকলেই হিরাঝিলের রাজপ্রাসাদে উপস্থিত ছিলেন; মীরজাফর তাহাদের সকলেরই পরামর্শ জিজ্ঞাসা করিতে লাগিলেন। ইংলণ্ডীয় মহাসভার মন্তব্য পুস্তকে প্রকাশ যে, সকলেই একবাক্যে সিরাজ- দ্দৌলাকে নিহত করিবার পরামর্শদান করেন।[২] কিন্তু অর্ম্মিলিখিত ইতি-
