8 SR সৌন্দৰ্য-তত্ত্ব Sir William Hamilton :-8tfitsa (Girl, start"? বুদ্ধিবৃত্তি (understanding) হইতে বস্তুর একত্ব বিষয়ক জ্ঞান লাভ করি। কল্পনা বৃত্তি ( Imagination ) হইতে বহুত্বের জ্ঞান লাভ করি । কল্পনাশক্তি বস্তুর উপাদানসমূহ মনের সম্মুখে ধরিয়া দেয়। আমাদের বুদ্ধিবৃত্তি সমস্ত উপাদানগুলিকে এক সুত্রে গ্রথিত করে । বৈচিত্র্যের মধ্যে একত্বই প্ৰকৃত সৌন্দৰ্য্য * । সেই জিনিসই সুন্দর, যাহার আকৃতি আমাদের বুদ্ধি ও কল্পনাকে অনায়াসে, সম্যকরূপে, পরিচালিত করে । বালক অথবা অশিক্ষিত লোকের বুদ্ধিবৃত্তি অপরিপক, তাহারা কোন প্রাসাদের আংশিক সৌন্দৰ্য্য উপলব্ধি করিতে সমর্থ হুইলেও সমগ্ৰ প্ৰাসাদের সৌন্দৰ্য্য উপলব্ধি করিতে অসমর্থ। পক্ষান্তরে কোন সুন্দর পুস্তককে খণ্ড খণ্ড করা হইলে, তাহার সৌন্দৰ্য্য অন্তহিত হয়। অতএব দেখা যায় যে, মনুষ্যের বুদ্ধিবৃত্তির একত্বসম্পাদনের শক্তি-অনুসারে সৌন্দৰ্য্যবোধের তারতম্য ঘটিয়া থাকে। হামলটনের মতে ; সৌন্দৰ্য্যস্পৃহা ( Aesthetic
