॥ झेितोपदेशः ॥ ९९९ ভেরা ভাছ কহিয়াছেন লোভেতে বুদ্ধি চঞ্চল হয় লোভ তৃষ্ণকে জন্মায় ভূষণপড়ি মনুষ্য ইহলোকেও পরলোকে দুখ পায়। মুনম্বর মদং গমন কত মাৰি সেই বীণাকর্ণ কতৃক জৰ্জ্জবংশ খণ্ডদ্বারা তাড়িত হইয়া ভাবনা করিলাম লোষ্ঠী ও অপরিতুষ্ট লোক অবশ্য আত্মঘাতী হয় What then, shall I nourish myself with another's cake; This would be to open a second door to death. Having considered all this, I have again, through covet ousness, made up my mind to accept of some of thy provisions, But it is said, With covetousness reas on departeth: covetousness engendereth avarice; and the man who is tormented with avarice experience th pain, both here and hereaster, Hence, after I had been struck with the broken piece of bamboo by Vinakarna, I began to consider, that the covetous were unhappy, and assuredly their own enemy.
