On the 30th April 1892 Sir Gooroodass Banerjec made over to the University Currency Notes for Rs. 1000 for the purpose of creating an endowment for the annual award of a silver medal and a prize in momory of his son Jatindra Chandra Bancrjce, who was born on the 25th November 1881 and died on the 26th April 1892, while a student of the Hare School on the following conditions. 1. That a medal be awarded to the candidate who stands first at the Matriculation Examination. 2. That a prize consisting of useful books to bc selected by the candidate who wins it be awarded to the student of the Hare School who passes the Matriculation Examination most creditably. 3.
