( ماده ) NOTIFICATION. In modification of the rules for bonding Salt, promulgated on the 28th September, 1841, under the authority of the Board of Customs, Salt and Opium, it is hereby notified, that parties, desirous of bonding imported Salt in private Warehouses, may apply to the Collector of Customs for a license in the IForm C. appended to Act No. XXV. of 1836. If the Board are satisfied, on the Collector's report, that the Warehouses mentioned in the application are well adapted for the secure custody of the Salt, a license will be granted under Section XIX. of the above mentioned Act, and Salt may then be bonded therein under the restrictions provided by the Act in respect of any other Article of Merchandize bonded in a private Warehouse. A portion of the Government Golahs at Sulkea will be set apart from the 15th Proximo, as a public Warehouse for the reception of Salt on the same terms at a fixed rent, and will continue to be available for that purpose until required by Government. The rate of wastage allowed upon Salt, so warchoused, will be at the rate of four per cent. per unnum, upon the quantity weighed over the ship's side, but the import duty will be settled on the quantity so delivered, according to the provisions of Section XVIII. Act XXV. of 1836. warehouses, licensed for the reception of Salt under bond, will not be available for goods of any other description. All oxpenses attending the receipt, storage, custody and delivery of Salt at Warehouses licensed as above, or in the Sulkea Golahs, will be borne by the palties availing themselves of the privilege. Parties who are unable to provide Warehouses so constructed and situated as, in the opinion of the IBoard, effectually to provide for the secure custody of Salt while under bond, will be allowed, as before, to warehouse their Salt under the Rules of the 28th September, 1841, which otherwise remain in full force, except in so far as they are modified by this Notification.
