( ১৩৮ ) Officer of another Department, duly empowered to make a seizure of salt, who shall delay carrying any person arrested, or any illicit articles seized, under this Act, to the Superintendent, or who shall neglect to report the particulars of an arrest, seizure or search, within twenty-four hours thereafter shall be liable to a fine, not exceeding two hundred Rupees XV Any Officer of Salt Chokies, or any Officer of another Department, as aforesaid, who shall vexatiously and unnecessarily seize the goods or chattels of any person, on the pretence of seizing or searching for contraband salt, or who shall vexatiously or unnecessarily arrest any person, or commit any other excuss, not required for the execution of his duty, shall be liable to a fine, not exceeding five hundred Rupees XVI Any Officer employed in the Salt Chokie Department, or any Officer of nnother Department as aforesaid, who shall connive at the smug going of salt, or unlawfully release or connive at the escape of any person arrested under this Act, or act in a manner inconsistent with his duty, for the purpose of enabling any person to do any thung whereby any of the provisions of this Act may be evaded or broken, or the revenue derived srom salt defrauded, shall, be liable to a fine, not ex ceeding five hundred Rupees XVII Any Officer employed in the Department of Salt Chokies, or any Osficer of another Department as aforesaid, who shall ask or take any gratuity, not authorised by any law or order of Government, or of the Board of Customs, Salt and Opium, in consideration of doing or of omitting to do any act in his Official capacity, and any person who shall offer a bribe to any such Officer, in order to induce such Officer to act in a manner inconsistent with his duty, shall be liable, for every such offence, to a fine, not exceeding five hundred Rupees XVIII Whenever the Superintendent shall arrest any person, or shall setze any contraband salt, he shall, with all Lonvenient despatch, carry the person arrested, with the salt, and any other chattels liable to confiscation, seized therewith, before any Justice of the Peace for the Town of Calcutta, nominated by the Governor of Bengal to adjudicate cases under this Act, and it the arrest or seizure shall be made by any of his Subordinate Officers or other Officer duly empowered, such Officer shall immediately carry the person arrested, and the articles seized, to the Superintendent, who shall thereupon proceed as if the arrest or seizure had been made by himself Provided that nothing in thıs section shall be construed to prevent the Superintendent 1eleasing any persons arrested, or property seized, when he considers such persons or property to have been 1mproperly arrested or seized XIX Whenever any দ্রব্য সুপবিন্টেগুেষ্ট সাহেবেৰ নিকটে লইয়া যাইভে বিলম্ব কৰেন অথবা গ্রেস্তাৰ কি ক্রোক বা তালাশী কবণের পর চব্বিশ ঘণ্টাৰ মধ্যে তাহাব বৃত্তান্তেব বিপোর্ট করিতে ত্রুটি কবেন তবে সেই ব্যক্তি ২ • • দুই শত টাকার অনধিক জবীমানাব যোগ্য হইবেন ইতি । ১৫ ধাবা । নিমক চৌকীৰ কোন অমিলা অথবা পূৰ্ব্বোক্তমত্ত অন্য সিৰিশতার কোন আমলা যদি বিনানুমতিব লবণ ক্রোক অথবা তালাশী কবণেব ছলে বৈবক্রিরূপে এবং অনাবশ্যকমতে কোন ব্যক্তিৰ জিনিস কি দ্রব্য ক্রোক কবেন কিম্বা কোন ব্যক্তিকে ক্লেশজমকরূপে অথবা অনাবশ্যকমতে গ্রেস্তাব করেন বা আপনার কৰ্ত্তব্য কার্য্যেৰ নিমিত্তে যে কৰ্মেৰ অবিশ্যক না থাকে এষ্টমত কোন অত্যাচারের শর্ম কবেন তবে সেই ব্যক্তি ৫e e২ পাঁচশত টাকার অনধিক জবীমানার যোগ্য হইবেন ইতি । ১৬ ধাবা। নিমক চৌকীর সিবিশ্বতায় নিযুক্ত কোন আমলা অথবা পূৰ্ব্বোক্তমত অন্য সিৰিশ্ৰতাৰ কোন আমলা যদি বিনানুমতিতে লবণ অনিষনেব বিষয় জ্ঞানিয়া শুনিয়া তাঙ্গছলা কবেন অথবা এই আইনক্রমে গ্রেস্তাবহ ওয়া কোন ব্যক্তিকে বেআইনমতে খালাস কবেন ব। তাহাৰ পলায়নেৰ বিষয় জানিয়া শুনিয়া তছিল্য কবেন কিম্ব যে কার্য্যেৰ দ্বাৰা এই আইনেব কোন বিধি এড়ান যাইতে বা উল্লঙ্ঘন হষ্টতে পাবে অথবা লবণেব রাজস্বেব কানি হইতে পাৰে এই মত কর্ম কোন ব্যক্তিকে কবিতে দেওনেব জন্যে আপনাব কর্তব্য কার্য্যেব বিকন্ধে কোন কর্ম কবেন তবে সেই অমিল ৫• •\ পাঁচ শত টাকাৰ অনধিক জবীমানবি যোগ্য হইবেন ইতি । ১৭ ধাব। নিমক চৌকীব সিবিশভায় নিযুক্ত যে কোম অমিল অথবা পূৰ্ব্বোক্ৰমত অন্য সিবিশভার যে কোন আমলা আপনাব পদোপলক্ষেৰ কোন কার্য্য কৰণ বা না কৰণেৰ পুরস্কাবস্বরূপ আইনেব কি গবর্ণমেন্টেৰ কি হালিম্ব ও নিমক ও আফনেৰ বোর্ডেৰ হুকুম না হওয়া কোন পুৰস্কাব চাহেন বা লন এবং এইমত কোন অমিলাকে আপনাব কর্তব্য কার্য্যের বিকন্ধে কোন কর্ম কৰণেব প্রবৃত্তি দেওনার্থে যে কোন ব্যক্তি সেইকপ কোন আমলাকে ঘুষ দিতে প্রবৃত্ত হয় সেই ব্যক্তি প্রত্যেক অপবাধেব জন্যে ৫• •N পাঁচ শত টাকার অনধিক জীমানাব যোগ্য হইবেক ইভি । ১৮ ধাৰা। যখন সুপবিন্টেগুেন্ট সাহেব কোন ব্যক্তিকে গ্রেফ্লাব কবেন অথবা কোন বিনানুমতিৰ লবণ ক্রোক কবেন তখন তিনি যথাসাধ্য শীঘ্ৰ ঐ গ্রেফাৰহওয়া ব্যক্তি এব^ ক্রোক হওয়1 লবণ এবং লবণেৰ সঙ্গে অন্য যে কোন জব্দ হওনের যোগ্য দ্রব্য ক্রোক হইয়াছিল তাহ। বাঙ্গল দেশেৰ শ্ৰীযুত গবরনর সাহেব এই আইনানুসাৰে মোকদম নিষ্কপত্তি কৰণার্থে শহর কলিকাতাব যে জুষ্টিস অফ দি পীল নিযুক্ত কযেন ঠাহাৰ নিকটে লইয়। যাইবেন । এবং যদি ঐ গ্রেস্তার অথবা ক্রোক কোন অধীন অমিলাৰদেব দ্বাবা কি বীতিমত্ত ক্ষমতাপ্রাপ্ত অন্য কোন অমিলাৰ ছবি হয় তবে সেই২ আমলা তৎক্ষণাৎ ঐ গ্রেস্তাব হওয ব্যক্তি ও ক্রোক হওয জিনিস সুপবিন্টেণ্ডেণ্ট সাহেবেব নিকটে লইয়া যাইবেন এবং তিনি আপনি গ্রেঞ্জাব অথবা ক্রোক কবিলে যেরূপ কৰিতেন সেইরূপ তিনি কার্য্য কৰিবেন । কিন্তু জানা কৰ্ত্তব্য যে এই ধাবার লিখিত কোন কথায় এমত অর্থ কবিতে হইবেক ন। যে সুপবিন্টেণ্ডেণ্ট সাহেবের যখন বোধ হয় যে ঐ২ ব্যক্তি অনুচিতমতে গ্রেফাৰ হইয়াছে অথবা ঐ২ সম্পত্তি অনুপযুক্তমতে ক্রোক হইয়াছে তখন সেই গ্রেফার হওয়া ব্যক্তিরদিগকে অথবা সেই ক্রোক হওয়া সম্পত্তি খালাল করিতে পাবেন না ইত্তি । ১৯ ধারা । এই আইনানুসারে জজ হওনের যোগ্য
