The Lieutenant-Governor has been also pleased to sanction, on the recommendation of the Commissioners at a meeting, the registration by them, under Section 183 of the Act, of all carts kept or habitually used within the Rungpore Municipality, and the levy, under Section 134, with retrospective effect from the lst October 1876, of a fee of Rs. 2 annually upon every cart for such registration. The 2nd July 1877.—It is hereby notified for general information that the Lieutenant Governor has been pleased to extend the provisions of Sections 237, 238, 239, 242, 243, 253, 254, and 255 of Act V (B.C.) of 1876 to the Municipality of Joynagore, in the district of 24-Pergunnahs. The 27th June 1877.-The following bye-laws, framed by the Municipal Commissioners of Rajshahye at a meeting, under Section 813 of Act V (B.C.) of 1876, having been confirmed by the Lieutenant-Governor under Section 314 thereof, are hereby published for general information :- 嘯 For Regulating the Time and Mode of Collecting the Tawes. 1. Every officer Suthorized to grant receipts shall be provided with a certificate of his authority to collect, and every such certificate shall bear the seal of the Municipality and the signature of the Chairman. Every collecting officer, at the time of demanding payment, shall be bound to show this certificate if required. 2. Every person required in writing to furnish any schedule or return, which the Commissioners may lawfully require him to furnish, shall send such schedule or return to the office of the Commissioners within one week from the date of the service of the requisition, in the manner described in section 867 of the Act. Any person failing to do so shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Rs. 5 for the omission, and to a penalty not exceeding Rs. 2 for every day the omission shall, after warning, continue. Any person submitting a false or incorrect schedule or returu shall be liable to a penalty of Rs. 20, provided that nothing in this bye-law shall be held to prevent the institution of a criminal prosecution under the Penal Code should the facts appear to warrant such a proceeding. 3. Payment of purchase-money for property sold, and delivery of the property, shall be made immediately after the sale; and if the purchaser fail to pay the full amount of his bid, it shall be lawful for the distraining officer, at his discretion, to sell the property again on the same or any other day, and the first purchaser shall in such case be responsible to the Commissioners for any loss, which shall be recoverable as a debt due to them.
