Savage, officiating Joint Mogistrate was Peputy Collector, in charge of the Raneegunge division of the Burdwan district, is appointed temporarily to act as Magistrate and Collector of Bankoora. Mr. Anandaram Burooah, Assistant Magistrate and Collector, Burdwan, is appointed temporarily to have charge of the Raneegunge division of that district, Mr. C. B. Garrett, District and Sessions Judge, Dacca, is allowed leave for thirty-one days, under the rules in Chapter VII of the Civil Leave Code, with effect from the 8th November next. Mr. R. M. Towers, Officiating Distriot and Sessions Judge of Nuddea, is appointed to act as District and Sessions Judge of Dacca during the absence, on leave, of Mr. C. B. Garrett, or until further orders. h The Right Hon’ble the Secretary of State for India has been pleased to grant extensions of leave to the following officers of the Covenanted Civil Service for the periods mentioned:— Mr. W. H. Verner, fourteen days’ furlough. R. F. Bampini, twelve months’ furlough. ,, J. S. Drummond, three months' on sick certificate. Police.—The 2nd October 1877.-The orders of the 16th August 1877, published in the Calcuttà Gasette of the 22nd idem, promoting Mr. W. D. Pratt to the Third Grade of District Superintendents of Police, are cancelled. Mr. Pratt will, however, continue to act in the Third Grade of District Superiutendents of Police, and as Personal Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police until further orders. Iu supersession of the orders of the 16th August 1877, published in the Calcutta Gasette of the 22nd idem, Mr. M. B. Rochfort is placed in the Fifth Grade of District Superin tendents of Police, and is posted to Backergunge. Mr. Rochfort will, however, act in the Fourth Grade of District Superintendents of Police until further orders, Registration.—The 22nd September 1877.-The Sub-divisional Officer, Jehanabad, Burdwan, is also appointed to be Sub-Registrar of that place. The 27th September 1877.--Baboo Bykunta Chundra Goopta is appointed to have temporary charge of the office of the Rural Sub-Registrar of Backergunge, vice Moulvi Newab Ali, deceased. Education.— The 2nd October 1877.-Mr. G. B. Godfrey, Deputy Magistrate and Deputy Collector, Dinagepore, is appointed to be a member of the District School Committee of that district, Baboo Sree Nath Bhudder. Pundit Radha Lal, Deputy Inspector of Schools, Durbhunga, is transferred to Shahabad. Munshi Beni Prosad Misree, Officiating Deputy Inspector of 8chools, Shahabad, is trausferred to Durbhunga. Baboo Juggobundhoo Khan, Deputy Magistrate and Deputy Collector, Dinagepore, is appointed to be a member of the School Committee of that district, vice Baboo Shama Podo Chowdhree. Mr. F. A. Slack, Assistant Magistrate and Collector, Dinagepore, is appointed to be a member of the Dinagepore District School Committee, rice Baboo Mohendro Nath Bhat tacharjee, transferred. * The following gentlemen are appointed to be members of the Bankoora District School Committee :- * Baboo Mohendro Nath Bhuttacharjee, M.A., Deputy Magistrate and Deputy Collector. Moulvi Buzlul Karim, Officiating Deputy Magistrate and Deputy Collector. Baboo Shiti Kantha Ghosh, Sheristadar of the Collectorate, As ,, Shita Nath Chatterjee, Sheristadar of the Judge’s Court. Opium.—The 28th September 1877.-Mr. A. G.
