( So. ) [ Par II A. pline, the appointment, punishment, and dismissal of masters, the oring and payment of the masters’ salaries, allowances, and pension contributions, and the grantef leave of absence to the masters, shall he conducted by the District or Local Board, or by the Committee of Management, under the general eontrol of the District or Local Board. 108. District Boards shall be liable for the payment of the atipends of Board sehool teachers under training in imtitutions provided by Government for that purpose. 109. Board schools shall be liable to inspection and examination by officers of the Educational Department, by the Commissioner of the Division, and by the Magistrate of the district. 110. Whenever by order under section 64 of the Act the management and maintenance of a High English school shall have been entrusted to a Joint Committee, the following rules shall be in force. 112. Subject to the control of the Educational Department, the administration of the “school as regards teaching and disciplinc, the fixung of the monthly, admission, and re-admission fees to be paid by the pupils, the award of prizes to the pupils, the appointment, punishment, and dismissal of masters, the fixing and payment of the masters' salaries, allowances, and pension contributions, and the grant of leave of absence to the masters shall be conducted by the Joint Cominiutee. 118. No vacations or holidays shall be allowed to the masters and pupils of the school other than those sanctioned by Governiucnt. 114. The Joint Committee shall be bound to furnish such reports and returns as shall be from time to time required by the Educational Department and by the authorities of the University of Calcutta. ū 115. The Joint Committee shall conform to such regulations as the authorities of she University of Calcutta shall from time to time make with regard to the conduct of examinations. 116. The school shall be hable to anspection and examination by the Commissioner of the division, by the Magistrate of the district, by the Inspector, and, if ordered by the Inspector, by the Deputy Inspector, by the Principal of any Government College within the Municipality in which the school is situated, and by any Fellow of the University of Calcutta. Any observations or report in regard to the school, which the Oommissioner, Magistrate, Inspector, Deputy Inspector, the Principal of any Government College within the Municipality, or any Fellow of the University of Calcutta shall think fit to make, shall be forwarded in writing to the Joint Committee, and a copy shall at the same time be tent to the Dilector of Public Instruction. 117. The buildings of the school shall be liable to inspection by any officer of the Publie Works Department whom the Government may entrust with this duty. He shall forward his remarks in writing to the Joint-Committee, and shall at the same time send a copy of them to the Director of Public Instruction. ॐ Y.y 5rction III.—Mmodis Scrxools. 118. With regard to Middle and other schools managed and maintained directly by a District Board, the District Board shall have, within the Board's jurisdiction, the following powers: (1) Of deciding where new schools shall be opened and the manner in which accommodation therefore shall be provided. 酋 (2) Of deciding upon the transfer or abolition of existing schools. (3) Of fixing the class of every such school : the selection to be made from classes recognized by the Educational Department. (4) Of Prescribing the standard of teaching in every such school; the be made from standards recognised by the Educational Department. $9 (5) of fixing, subject to such limitations as may be from time to time prascribed by the oducson Department, the rate of monthly, admission, and re-admission fees to be paid by pupils in every such school.
