But the difficulty is in the way of such an enterprise are great in a country like India of lethargic and sleepy peoples, whose interest in things historical is weak and purposeless, and we should hardly have been induced to take a hopeful view of Babu Debendra Nath Mukerjie's efforts had we not been strongly impressed with a sense of his indomitable will and preseverance as well as his capacity for hard work.'
