সুভাষচন্দ্র মন্তব্য করিয়াছিলেন—“A wonderful plea for preparing the Country for direct action..... There is no appeal to one's higher self which can send a thrill through his nerves and steel him for suffering and persecution” অর্থাৎ, “প্রত্যক্ষ সংগ্রামে প্রবৃত্ত করিবার কি চমৎকার আবেদন।.....এ সকলের মধ্যে মানুষের মহত্তর প্রাণকে উদ্বুদ্ধ করিবার কিছুই নাই, যাহাতে তাহার স্নায়ুশিরায় বিদ্যুৎ-চেতনা সঞ্চারিত হয়—চরম নিগ্রহ ও দুঃখকষ্টকে বরণ করিবার জন্য সে লোহার মত কঠিন হইতে পারে, এমন প্রেরণা নাই।[১]
ইহা অতিশয় সত্য। মানুষকে জাগাইবার মন্ত্র উহা নয়— উহা ঘুম পাড়াইবার মন্ত্র। ঐ কর্ম্মও মানুষকে যন্ত্রের মত প্রাণহীন করিয়া তোলে, ঐ প্রেমচর্চ্চাও একটা ভণ্ডামী হইয়া উঠে। শুধু তাহাই নয়, ঐ চরকায়-সূতা-কাটার মত পুরুষের পুরুষত্ব-নাশক মহৌষধ আর নাই, মানুষকে অলস করিবার—এবং সেই হেতু তাহার চিত্তে নানা কুবুদ্ধি উদ্রেক করিবার, এমন
