{ a } তাহার পাশ্চাত্য ভক্তগণ, উপাসকগণ, তাহার গভীর রহস্ত লীলার নিভূত প্রাসাদে প্রবেশাধিকার লাভ করিয়া কি কি রচনাপ্রণালী কি বিচিত্র লীলা সনদর্শন করিয়াছেন, কি গভীর তত্ত্বকথা শ্রবণ করিয়াছেন, রামেন্দ্র বাবু ললিত ভাবে ও ভাষায়, তাহাই প্রকাশ করিতে চেষ্ট পাইয়াছেন । আমরা অসঙ্কোচে বলিতে পারি বঙ্গভাষায় ও বঙ্গসাহিতে্যু এই গ্ৰন্থখানি অদ্বিতীয় । আমাদের বিশ্বাস—রামেন্দ্র বাবুর গ্রন্থখানি বঙ্গভাষায় এবং বঙ্গীয় পাঠকদিগের রুচি ও প্রবৃত্তিতে নবযুগ প্রবর্তন করবে। বিশ্ব বিদ্যালয়ের উচ্চ শিক্ষাপ্রাপ্ত স্তুগুনিগণ জ্ঞানাভিমানরূপ বায়ু-বিকারে অতি অস্বাভাবিক রূপে স্ফীতোদর । এই বিষম রোগে, বঙ্গীয় শিক্ষিত সমাজে, ভয়ানক জ্ঞানাগ্নিমন্দ্যি উপস্থিত । আমরা বিশ্বাস করি—রামেন্দ্র বাবুর “প্রকৃতি"র আশু ফলপ্রদ মহৌষধিসেবনে অচিরে এই অগ্নিমানদ্য ও অভিমানবিকার প্রশমিত হুইবে । * * THE AMRITA BAZ AR PATRI KA. February 27, 1887. The book contains thirteen carefully written essays on various scientific subjects traversing such diverse departments of science as astronomy, geology, physics, biology, &c. The author is a well known Professor of Science in one of the local colleges and is a most distinguished graduate of the Calcutta University and a Raichand Premchand Scholar. He seems to have a genuine love and admiration for European science and has attempted in the present volume to present to Bengali readers some of the master ideas of science in an attractive and interesting form. We find that to a rare knowledge and deep insight into various departments of science, the author adds a felicitous simplicity of style which enables him to popularize abstruse and recondite scientific ideas and make them acceptable to the general reader who has not the advantage of a previous scientific training. The book is unique of its kind in Bengali literature. It is true that we have in the language some elementary treatises in the simpler M.
