[ 11 ) whether in a lalent or manifest form ; and it is needless to add that our body-space also is pervaded by the same solar crlergy. This aggregale solar force within the body is the Life in living beings. The vasi and formless elherspace shrouded in nebular darkness, dominated by the principle of tamas, the cause and container of all things and which has been described as both real and unreal—this vast and formless ether has been spoken of as the iménge and reflex of the Supreme Being. In the Vedas, it is said : "(The Supreme Being thoughi) I am one, I shall be many", and so there emerged into existence iho ihree qualities ol sattwat, rajas and tamas. Light (sire or energy which roveals) is sattva : air which moves and is ilhe cause of all motion is rasas, while space, (ether) in which all things visible and invisible have their origin and end, is tamas. But though space (eiher) is primarily dominoled by łnmas, all the three qualities of sattva, rajas and tamas are inherent and immonent in space. They have been shore since the beginning of time—they will continue to be there even after the end of creation. The existence (ond permanence) of space like the existence of ihe Supreme Being Himself is lesłified to even in the Vedas. Thus the Supreme Being, with the object of
