জ্ঞানক্ষুির জtঃ, ১২৮৩) কোন কাৰ্য্যই ধীরতা সহকারে সম্পন্ন করিতে ইচ্ছা যায় না । দাৰুণ ছঠকারিভ, অধীরতা, অসহিষ্ণুভ ও অকারণ ক্রোধ তাছার সঙ্গী হয় । আমোদ ব্যতীত অন্য কার্যে মনঃ সংযোগ করিতে ইচ্ছা হয় না । বরং তাছাতে সময় বৃথা নষ্ট হইতেছে বোধ হইতে থাকে ; তজ্জন্য কেহ কোন কর্তব্য কার্য্যের কথা স্মরণ করাইয়া দিলে ভাষার উপর গুৰুত্তর ক্ৰোধ জন্মে । সিংহাসনে অধিরূঢ় হইয়া সিরাজের অবস্থাও ঐ রূপ হইল। অবিবেচনায় র্তাহার রাজ কার্য্য আরব্ধ হইল, অবিৰেচনায় তাহ পর্যবসিত হইবে i* সিংহাসন লাভের পর সিরাজের প্রথম কাৰ্য্য স্বকীয় সংসার ও পরিবার সমন্ধীয়। মতি ঝিল নামে রাজধানীর ক্রোশেক দক্ষিণে এক উদ্যান ছিল, সেই উদ্যানে সিরাজের পিতৃব্য, ঢাকার নবাব নওয়াগিল মহম্মদের

সিরাজউদ্দৌলা । 8)& বিধবা পত্নী বাস করিতেন । এই রমণীর চরিত্রে কলঙ্ক ছিল। সিরাজের আজ্ঞায় নওয়াগিস পত্নী বিবি গাছসিতি অবৰুদ্ধা হইলেন এবং তাহার সম্পত্তি সমস্ত রাজকোষে পরিরক্ষিত হইল । রাজবল্লভ নামক এক জন হিন্দু নওয়াগিসের কার্য্যাধ্যক্ষ ছিলেন । চুওয়াগিসের পত্নী বিবি গাহসিতির সহিত এই ব্যক্তির নিন্দনীয় আত্মীয়তা ছিল বলিয়া প্রচার । পিতৃব্যের সমস্ত সম্পত্তি হস্তগত করা ও রাজবল্পভকে শাস্তি দেওয়া সিরাজের মনোগত ছিল । তদভিপ্রয়ে ঢাকায় অনুজ্ঞা প্রেরিত হইল । * “The young prince though educated, it is said, with special care by his uncle, inherlted few of his high qualities ; and on his accession to the Nizamut in April 1756, ho was thrown without experience into circumstances that might have tried a judgment more mature. He has been accused of innumerable vices, and it is probable he had his share.
