108 nezzar did not now send any of his great men to execute his orders. He forgot his own grandeur and dignity in witnessing this display of the power of God. He drew near to the frnace, and called aloud to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, com manding them to come forth. They obeyed, and came out of the midst of the fire. The multitude of princes, and counsellors, and great men gathered around, and examined them with astonishment. The fire had burned their bonds, and that was all. Not a thread of their garments was scorched, not a hair of their heads was singed. Then Nebuchadnezzar broke out into praises of the great God of heaven, who had delivered his servants from the dévouring -fire. He declared there was no God like the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and threat ened the severest punishments to those who should speak any thing against him.
