The angel then went on to predict many wars that would take place between the kings of the north and of the south. This prophecy is supposed to refer to the long and bloody wars between the kings of Egypt and Syria, and to the cruel treatment of the Jews by Antiochus, king of Syria. The rest of the prophecy is more difficult to understand; but it brobaຫຼໍ່ related to the Romans, who snbdued the Greek empire, and became masters of the whole world, about sixty-three years before the ‘birth of Christ. Seventy years after the birth of Christ, the Romans, it was said, would invade Judea, the temple of the Jews woui e burned, and’ their city laid waste, and they themselves expelled from their own land and scattered among all nations; all which was most punctually accomplisheir as undoubted history plainly - - some other remarkable events were predicted, veien would take place before the chd of all things. .
