খাস ছৈত্রী ব্রাহ্মণ ঔরসে ‘খাস’ রমণী বা অপর কোন হীন জাতীয় পার্বত্য রমণীর গর্ভে যে সকল সন্তান জন্মগ্রহণ করিয়াছিল তাহারা কেবল মাত্র ক্ষত্রিয়’ পদবী গ্রহণের অধিকার প্রাপ্ত হইয়াছিল। এ নিমিত্ত একই জাতির অন্তর্ভূক্ত কতক গুলিকে উপনীত ও কতকগুলিকে অনুপবীত দেখা যায়। মিঃ ব্রায়ান হডসন খা’ জাতির উৎপত্তি সম্বন্ধে লিখিয়াছেন : “But the Brahmins had sensual passions to gratify as well as ambition. They found the native females even of the most disitinguished nothing lotl, but still of a temper, like that of the males, prompt t:) resent indignities. These females would indeed welcome the polished Brahmins to their embraces, but the offspring must not be stigmatized as the infams progeny of a Brahmin and a Mlechha. Ti, this progeny also, then the Brahmins, in still greater defiance of their creed, communicated the rank of the second order of Hinduism ; and from these two roots (converts and illegitimate progeny), mainly, spring the piw numerous, predominant, and extensively TL.
