teachers of all levels has crossed into India. Since the communities of teachers had played a significant role for over two decades in the movement for democracy. secularism and a just social order in for in the country, its members became naturally cnough a special target of the Pakistan Army, Many teachers have been killed, others who are trapped in the occupied Zone are being harassed and persecuted a few have been forced at gin point to issue statements in support of the action of Pakistan Army. As a result, members of this harassed community are trekking into India every day. The teachers from Bangladesh, now in temporary exile in India. have formed an association of their own, on whose behalf we are writing you today.
About 100 University teachers, 1000 College teachers, and 3000 school teachers have registered their names with us, Several thousand others in different bordering state of India are yet to make contact with the Association. Most of these teachers have come with their families and all without any means to support themselves.
Having regard to the contribution that this community has made in the past and their expectant role in the reconstruction of society as and when the country achieves freedom, it is felt that we make all efforts to save it from impending doom. We drawn up a number of schemes for providing the teachers with temporary academic occupation research Publication and teaching the evacuee children in the refugee camps. The execution of this programme will require financial assistance from non-Government sources, in addition to what the Government of India the Government of Bangladesh may be in a position to make.
In the circumstances we appeal to you the members of the academic community the world over to contribution generously to the fund of our association. Contributions may be sent to the Bangladesh Sikshak Samiti, Darbhanga Building, Calcutta University, Calcutta 12 India.

সমিতি বিভিন্ন সময়ে ভারতের নানা স্থানে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পক্ষে জনমত সৃষ্টি ও সহায়মা কামনায় বিভিন্ন প্রতিনিধী প্রেরণ করে। এদের মধ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্য হলোঃ জুন মাসে প্রেরিত উত্তর ভারত প্রতিনিধিদল। ড. এ আর মল্লিক, ড. আনিসুজ্জামান ও জনাব সুবিদ আলী এমপিএ। এই দলটি এলাহাবাদ, আলিগড়, দিল্লি-আগ্রা ও লক্ষণৌ প্রভৃতি অঞ্চল সফর করে। জুলাই মাসে প্রেরিত মধ্যপ্রদেশ প্রতিনিধিদলঃ মাজহারুল হক, ড.অজয় রায়, অধ্যাপক সামসুল আলম সায়িদ। এঁরা জববলপুর, ভূপাল, উজ্জয়িনী, রেয়া, রায়পুর প্রাভৃতি অঞ্চল পরিভ্রমণ করেন। সেপ্টেম্বর মাসে প্রেরিত মহারাষ্ট্র প্রতিনিধিদলঃ ডঃ এ আর মল্লিক ও অধ্যাপক সৈয়দ আলী আহসান বম্বে সহ মহারাষ্ট্রের বিভিন্ন এলাকা পরিদর্শন করেন। এছাড়া ঐ মাসে অধ্যাপক মাজহারুল ইসলাম কেরালা ভ্রমণ করেন। এছাড়াও বাংলোদশ সম্পর্কিত নানা সভা ও সম্মেলনে ভারতের বিভিন্ন স্থানে শিক্ষক সমিতি প্রতিনিধি প্রেরণ করে। এ ছাড়াও বাংলাদেশ সরকার জাতিসংঘে যে প্রতিনিধিদল প্রেরণ করেন এতে সমিতির ড. এ আর মল্লিক অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিলেন।
