Written out on being found correct according to memorandum. ‘সিরাজুদ্দৌলার কথা । নিতান্ত অনিচ্ছাসত্ত্বেও সত্যের অনুরোধে, এই পরিশিষ্ট্রের মধ্যে একটি অবান্তর বিষয় সংযোগ করিতে বাধ্য হইলাম। ক্রযুক্ত অক্ষয় কুমার মৈত্রেয় তাহার সিরাজুদ্দৌলা গ্রন্থের তৃতীয় সংস্করণে (১৩১৫) পাদ-টীকার অনেক স্থলে আমার মতামতের তীব্র প্রতিবাদ করিয়াছেন। তাহার সিরাজুদ্দৌলা-প্রবন্ধ রচনার প্রথম অবস্থায় আমি যে যৎসামান্ত উপকার করিয়াছিলাম, তিনি গ্রন্থের কোথাও তাহার উল্লেখ করা আবশ্যক মনে করেন নাই ; কিন্তু দোষ-প্রদর্শনে নামোল্লেখ অত্যাবস্তক বিবেচিত হইয়াছে!! অক্ষয় বাবু সিরাজ-চরিত্র লইয়া ঐতিহাসিক চিত্র অঙ্কিত করিয়াছেন,-চিত্রে সৌন্দর্ঘ্য ও শিল্পের হিসাবে বর্ণের একটু প্রগাঢ়ত বা অতিরঞ্জন সময়ে সময়ে চলিতে পারে। অক্ষয় বাবু নীর কাসেমের বিজ্ঞাপনে ইহা প্রকারাস্তরে স্বীকার ও করিয়াছেন। সুতরাং অক্ষয় বাবুর চিত্রে যদি ঐতিহাসিক মত ক্ষুণ্ণ হইয়া থাকে, তবে তাহাতে বিস্মিত হইবার কোন কারণ নাই । আমার উদ্দেশু অষ্টবিধ। প্রাচীন ইতিহাসের আলোচনায় মতভেদ, অনেক সময়ে, অনিবাৰ্য্য। তাহার সহিত মতভেদ হওয়ায় ইতিপূৰ্ব্বে মোহনলাল ও সিরাজ
