কাশিপ্রসাদ একখানি কাব্য রচনা করেন ; তাহাতে ইংরাজীপদ্যে দশহরা, ঝুলনযাত্রা, জন্মাষ্টমী, দুর্গাপূজা, কোজাগর-পূর্ণিমা, শুামাপূজা, কার্ষিকপূজা, রাসযাত্রা, ত্রপঞ্চমী, দোলযাত্রা, চড়ক ও অক্ষয়তৃতীয়ার ইতিহাস এবং উৎসব বর্ণিত হইয়াছে। এই পদ্যগুলিতে যেমন সংক্ষেপে বিষয়গুলির প্রকৃতি বর্ণিত হইয়াছে, তেমনি তাহার রচনাও স্বভাবসুলভ প্রাঞ্জল ও প্রসাদগুণবিশিষ্ট হইয়াছে ; কতকগুলির স্থানে স্থানে বেশ পরিস্ফুট পরিহাস-রসও (Humour ) আছে । এই কোষকাব্যথানির রচনাসম্বন্ধে কবি লিখিয়া গিয়াছেন যে, এক সময় তাহার কোন একজন পরম মিত্র তাহার পদ্যগুলি ছাপাইবার জন্য অনুরোধ করেন। র্তাহারই সহিত কথায় কথায় এই বিষয়ে কথা উঠে ; তিনি বলিলেন যে, কতকগুলি দেশীয় বিষয়, দেশীয় ভাব বজায় রাখিয়া ইংরাজীপদ্যে লেখা আবখ্যক । সে সময় অন্ত কোন গুরুতর বিষয় লিখিবার উপযুক্ত না থাকায় কাশিপ্রসাদ এক একটি হিন্দুউৎসব লইয়া ৬। ৭ ৮। ৯। ১০টি কবিতায় (Stanza) এক একটি পদ্য রচনা করেন। ইহার প্রত্যেকটি *REYstro Calcutta Literary Gazette.A &toffo of তৎপরে ১৮৩০ খৃষ্টাব্দে যখন “সায়ের” ছাপা হয়, তখন তাহার সহিত প্রকাশিত হয় । ইহার ক্ষুদ্র ক্ষুদ্র কবিতা হইতে নিয়ে দাড়ী-মাঝির একটি গান উদ্ধৃত হইল। বাঙ্গালার মাঝির নৌকা বাহিবার সময় সকলে মিলিয়া একপ্রকার গান গাহিয়া থাকে, তাহাকে *সারিগান” বলে । সারিগানে দেবস্তুতি ও গঙ্গাস্তুতি থাকে, অশ্লীল অকথ্য রসিকতাও থাকে। গানটি নিয়ে উদ্ধৃত হইল,— "Gold river ! Gold river t how gallantly now, Our bark on thy bright breast is lifting her prow. In pride of her beauty how swiftly she flies : Like a white-winged spirit thro' topaz-paved skies, Gold river ! Gold river thy bosom is calm, And o'er thee the breezes are shedding their balm ; : And nature beholds her fair features pourtrayed ; In the glass of thy bosom serenely displayed, Gold river ! Gold river ! the sun to thy waves, Is fleeting to rest in thy cool coral caves; And thence, with his tiar of light in the morn, He will rise, and the skies with his glory adorn, Gold river f Gold river how bright is the beam, That lightens and crimsons thy soft-flowing stream ; Whose waters beneath make a musical clashing, Whose waves as thy breast in their brightness. are flashing. Gold river ! Gold river 1 the moon will soon grace The hale of the stars with her light-shading face ; The wandering planets will over thee throng ; And seraphs will waken thin music and song. Gold river ! Gold river ! our brief course is done, And safe in the city our home we have won. And as the bright sun now dropped from our view, So Ganga t we bid thee a cheerful adieu." এই গীতটি ১৮২৯ খৃষ্টাকে ১৭ই সেপ্টেম্বর उा#ि५ লিখিত হয়। কাপ্তেন রিচার্ডসন তাহার "Selections from the British Poets” atmos of rotatists of কাশিপ্রসাদের অতুল ক্ষমতার অশেষ মুখ্যাতি করিয়া এই গানটি উদ্ধৃত করিয়াছেন * । যাহার কবিত্ব সম্বন্ধে বিদেশী বিজ্ঞ কাপ্তেন রিচার্ডসন স্বদেশী কবিগণকে ৪ হীনপ্রভ ৰলিয়া স্থির করিয়াছেন, তিনি যে কত প্রশংসার যোগ্য তাহ কে বলিবে! বাঙ্গালীর মধ্যে এরূপ একজন লোক ছিল, কয়জন বাঙ্গালী তাহ জানেন ? কিন্তু গুণগ্রাহী বিদেশী পণ্ডিতেরা খুজিয়া খুজিয়া বাঙ্গালার এই মুখোজ্জলকারী সন্তানটিকে আদর ও সম্মান করিয়া গিয়াছেন । অর্থও এলিয়ট নামে একজন *:::fs “Views from India and China" to গ্রস্থে কলিকাতায় এতলোক থাকিতে কবি কাশিপ্রসাদের কাৰ্ত্তিক-নিন্দিত, মদনোপম সুন্দরমূর্তির ছবি প্রকাশ করিয়া তাহার অসাধারণগুণের কথা মুক্ত কণ্ঠে গাছিয়া গিয়াছেন । “সায়ের” হইতে পার্কারের উপহারের কবিতার সন্ধ্যাবর্ণমাটুকু স্বীয় পুস্তকে তুলিয়া তাহার সুখ্যাতি যেন দশমুখে করিয়াছেন ৷ + ইনি যে কেবল ইংরাজী পদ্যই লিখিতেন তাহা নহে, ইংরাজী গদ্য রচনাতেও তাহার যথেষ্ট ক্ষমতা ছিল ।
