On the same occasion the dauaka should also perform the pirana" srāddha of the father, grandfather, and great grandfather of his adoptive mother, —whereby the pârvana srāddha of his maternal grandmother, great grandmother, ind great great grandmother shall also be performed. * * 1. It is intimated, that those who are the revered objects, contemplated at a párosse rite, Authority, performed by the adopted son himself, are the same at the tapind-larana ceremony also, { celebrated for the adopted son by his own son.f-D. By ordaining; (in this text.) funeral oblations in honor of three maternal grandsire, the rivate or double rite only, is inferred. From the expression—"as for the father,”- an option of performing, for the maternal grandsires also, obsequies in the form of pârvana, or ekodults, is not obtained; for, the sentence in question is meant to enjoin the obsolute necessity of the perform. ance of obsequies, in honor of the maternal grandfather-D, Mím.
