With regard to Taluqs, alluded to in the petition, forwarded by me from the widows, it appears that one in Rajnagur includes a very small part only of the Purgana lands, yielding an annual revenue of about Rs. 220, and which they hold upon a rent-free tenure, the remainder of the Taluq is composed of lands rented from other Purganas and being subject to the assessment of them, they enjoy the property only, the annual amount of which does not exceed Rs. 140, making the whole yearly amount forthcoming to them from it, Rs. 360. But prior to the abolition of the Sair, it amounted to Rs. 850. It seems that the latter lands of this Taluq were rented by Rajballab's elder widow, during the lifetime of her husband who, annexing the former to them made them over to her, and she accordingly enjoyed possession of then during her life, and on her demise, the rents of them appear to have been appropriated to defray religious charges until the year 1196, . when they were assigned over by the five partners to the petitioners who, prior to that period do not appear to have ever had any possession of the Taluq, but to have received occasionally sums of money for their necessary expenses. 7. With respect to the Taluqs in Bozergomedpur, claimed by the petitioners, it appears that it was Malguzari land, subject to the assessment of Purgana during the lifetime of Rajballab, and rendered Lakheraj after his death in the Bengali year 1192 by Lala Ram Prosad, the then managing Maib, who assigned it over to the elder widow for her life. I have before stated in my letter of the 2nd May last, that on her death it was taken possession of by the late Rai Gopal Kissen who, annexing it to his Taluqs, it devolved with them to his son Pitambar Sen, both of them continuing it on a Lakheraj or
