I am publishing my book by subscription. There are very few persons here whom I know ; Consequently I cannot expect to cover the expenses of printing ( very great in Madras), by what the book will fetch here. Can't you get me a few subscribers ? I am sure, if yuu try, you will succeed. Two Rs. per copy is the charge. Surely you will get, at least, 4o even from amongst our old school-fellows. Let me know, before the beginning of next month, the number of copies you want. I have a capital opportunity of sending them without in curring any expense whatever. A gentleman ( one of the students of Bp's Collcge ), who is now here on a visit to his father, has kindly promised to take as many copies as I wish to send with him. He leaves Madras by the middle of next month. Now old boy show me how you love me. I declare to you solemnly that I do not wish to make any profit by it. All that I wish, is just to escape loss.
