সম্পূর্ণ অবিশ্বাস্য, তাহা সকলে অনুমান করিতে পারেন। তাহার উপরোক্ত কথার মধ্যে অনেকগুলি পরস্পরের বিরোধী। তাহার অজ্ঞাতে ও উপদেশের বিরুদ্ধে কান্তবাবু যে, এই সকল জমিদারী লইয়াছিলেন, ইহা কে বিশ্বাস করিতে পারে? অথচ তজ্জন্য তিনি কান্তবাবুকে কোন কথাই বলেন নাই।
ডিরেক্টারেরা ইহাতে সন্তুষ্ট না হইয়া এই মর্মে লিখিয়া পাঠাইলেন যে, ভূতপূর্ব প্রেসিডেন্ট রাজস্বসংক্রান্ত বিধির বিরুদ্ধে কান্তবাবু প্রভৃতিকে জমিদারী বা জমিদারীর জামীন হইতে অনুমতিদানে এবং পরে তাহাদিগকে জামীনতি হইতে নিষ্কৃতি দিয়া, কোম্পানীর যে সকল ক্ষতি করিয়াছেন, তাহা অতীব গহিত। সেই সমস্ত ক্ষতির বিবরণ প্রস্তুত ও যাহাতে আবার সেই সকল জামীনতির উদ্ধার হয়, তাহার চেষ্টা করা হউক।২৪

For suffering his Banyan Canto Baboo to hold Farms contrary to Regulation.
Para 27. Having investigated the charges exhibited against some of the members of our late administration, we have come to the following resolutions—
“Resolved that it appears that the conduct of late president and council of Fort William, in Bengal, in suffering Canto Baboo the present Governor-General's banyan to hold Farms in different parganas to a large amount, or to be security for such Farms, contrary to the tenor and spirit, of the 17th regulation of the committee of Revenue at Fort William, of the 14th May, 1772, and afterwards relinquishing that security, without satisfaction made to the Company that the Governor-General and Council be directed to prepare an exact statement of such losses or damages ‘as the Company have sustained by their ‘servants permitting Canto Baboo and other persons, to withdraw the security they have given, and take the most effectual measure of the recovery of the same. *** (An Authentic copy of the Correspondence in India between the Country Powers and Hon.
