{ لا والا } কেবল অধ্যাপনায় ব্ৰতী থাকিতেন না, তাহার কলেজের ছাত্ৰগণের জন্ত নানা ভাষায় নানা প্রকার গ্রন্থপ্রণয়নেও ব্যাপৃত ছিলেন। যে সমস্ত ইউরোপীয়গণ প্রাচ্য ভাষার ব্যুৎপত্তির জন্য চিরবিখ্যাত হইয়া গিয়াছেন, সেই লম্সডেন, রুবক, কোলব্রুক, উইলসন, গিলক্ৰাইষ্ট, কেরী, মার্শম্যান প্রভৃতি আপনাপন কীৰ্ত্তিস্তম্ভ দ্বারা ফোর্ট উইলিয়ম কলেজের গৌরব বৰ্দ্ধিত করিয়াছিলেন।* এই সমস্ত অধ্যাপকগণের নিয়ে ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ভাষার মুন্সী ও পণ্ডিতগণ নিযুক্ত হইয়াছিলেন। র্তাহারাও অধ্যাপনা ও গ্রন্থপ্রণয়নে ক্ষমতা প্রদর্শনের ক্রটি করেন নাই। বাঙ্গলা ভাষার পণ্ডিতগণ সেই সময়ে বাঙ্গলা গদ্যে পুস্তক রচনা আরম্ভ করেন । এই সকল গ্রন্থের মধ্যে রামরাম বস্তুর রচিত রাজা প্রতাপাদিত্যচরিত্রই প্রথম, আমরা পরে তাহার উল্লেখ করিতেছি । honoured name of Colebrooke; the indefatigable energy of Gilchrist: the jurisprudence and legal knowledge of Harrington : the oriental scholarship of Gladwin the varied talents of Edmonstone, Carey, Malcolm, and Lumsden...... ...and the annals of the College of Fort William within the six years of its foundation could point with pride to the now well-remembered name of Leyden.” (Calcutta Review Vol V 1847). • “There we see Lumsden working at his Persian grammer, and Roebuck deep in his dictionary.
