Colos of Hlog A Descriptive Catalogue of Bengali Works নামক পুস্তিকায় রাজা প্রতাপাদিত্যচরিত্রের ভাষাসম্বন্ধে ঐরূপ মন্তব্যই প্রকাশ *follon “The first Prose Work and the first Historical one that appeared, was the Life of Pratapaditya the last king of Sagur Island, by Ram Bose, Ser. P., 18o1, pp 156. A work the style of which -a kind of mosaic shewed how much the unjust ascendency of the Persian language had in that day corrupted the Bengali." বাস্তবিক রাজা প্রতাপাদিত্যচরিত্রের ভাষা যে mosaicব চিত্রবিচিত্র তাহাতে সন্দেহ নাই। লং সাহেব রাজা প্রতাপাদিত্য চবিত্রকে -বাঙ্গলার প্রথম গদ্য ও প্রথম ঐতিহাসিক গ্রন্থ বলিয়াছেন । রামরামের প্রতাপাদিত্যচরিত্রই প্রথমেই পুস্তকাকারে জনসাধারণের মধ্যে প্রচারিত হইয়াছিল, আমরা বারম্বার তাহার উল্লেখ করিয়াছি, এবং ইহা যে বারণ ভাষার প্রথম ঐতিহাসিক গ্রন্থ তদ্বিষয়ে সন্দেহ নাই। যদিও চৈতন্ত ভাগবত চৈতন্যচরিতামৃত প্রভৃতি গ্রন্থও ঐতিহাসিক গ্রন্থ বলিয়া উল্লিখিত হইতে পারে, তথাপি ইংরেজীতে যাহাকে ঐতিহাসিক গ্রন্থ বলে, রাজা প্রতাপ
