The excavation of the site where this temple is said by tradition to lie buried, is a work of the deepest concern to Bengal Vaishnavas, and in view of the antiquity and importance of the building. I feel that the Archaeological Department would be justified in declaring it a protected monument and permitting its excavation under its supervision, if private funds are forthcoming for the purpose.” ভাবার্থ—“শ্ৰীযুক্ত ব্ৰজমোহন দাস বাবাজীর প্রচারিত পুস্তিকগুলি পাঠ করিয়া আমার মনে হইতেছে যে, বৰ্ত্তমানে ভূগর্ভে প্রোথিত দেওয়ান গঙ্গাগোবিন্দ সিংহের মন্দিরের অবস্থিতি নির্ণয় করিয়া তিনি শ্রীচৈতন্যদেবের জন্মস্থান সমস্তার চরম মীমাংসার যথেষ্ট চেষ্টা করিয়াছেন । যেস্থানে মন্দির প্রোথিত আছে বলিয়া শুনা যায়, মন্দিরের প্রাচীনতা ও প্রয়োজনীয়তা বিবেচনা করিয়া ঐ স্থান খনন করা—বঙ্গীয় বৈষ্ণবগণের পক্ষে বিশেষ আবশ্যক । যদি কেহ টাকা দেন, তবে সরকারী প্রাচীন কীৰ্ত্তি সংরক্ষণবিভাগ ঐ স্থানটাকে “সংরক্ষিত প্রাচীন মন্দির’ রূপে ঘোষণা করিয়া ঐ স্থল খনন করিলেই স্যায়সঙ্গত কার্য্য করা হইবে।”
