I suggest the following explanation :-Having said that the Vedas are concerned with actions for special benefits. Krishna compares them to a reservoir which provides water for various special purposes drinking, bathing &c. The Vedas similarly prescribe particular rites and coremonies for going to heaven, or destroying an enemy, &c. But, says Krishna. man's duty is merely to perform the actions prescribed for him among these, and not entertain desires for the special benefits named.” তেলাঙ্গের পর আর কোন ইংরেজি অনুবাদকের অনুবাদ এখানে উদ্ধৃত করা প্রয়োজনীয় হইতে পারে না । ইহাই বলা যথেষ্ট যে Davis ও Thomson প্রভৃতি সাহেবের তেলাঙ্গের ন্তায় অর্থ করিয়াছেন । তবে তাহারা সেই অমুবাদের সঙ্গে যে একটু একটু টকা সংযুক্ত করিয়া দিয়াছেন, তাহাতে আরও রস আছে । Thomson কৃত টকাটুকু পাঠককে উপহার দিলেই যথেষ্ট হইবে। তাহ উদ্ধৃত করিতেছি -- “As a tank full of fresh water may be used for drinking, bathing, washing one's clotbes, and numerous other purposes, so the text of the Vedas may be turned to any object of self-interest by a Brahman who is well acquainted with them and knows how to wield them. We may examplify this general fact by the uses made of texts from our scriptures in the mouths of the puritans on the one hand, and of the Cavaliers on the other. Our author must not, however, be understood to reject the use 磷。
