〉レー সাহিত্য-মীমাংসা WHstofo Lascelles Abercrombie Stotz, Principles of Literary Criticism গ্রন্থে সাহিত্যের লক্ষণ সম্বন্ধে ঠিক একই কথা বলিয়াছেন— “We have seen that every work of literature originates in an experience, It may be any sort of experience : Something may have happened to the author in actual life, or he may have heard a story of something, or some phantasy may have flashed into his mind. But it must be an experience peculiar in one respect ; it must be of a kind to take hold of him and to demand utterance. There might be nothing extraordinary in an experience that merely urged him to express himself, there must be something extra ordinary in any experience that urges him to express himself to perfection, and in a way that will also represent his experience to another mind.... “When Shakespeare heard (or read) the story of Othello, he tock it as a single experience ; the whole matter and import of the tale was seized by him, in a single act of imaginative attention. The wealth of matter in this experience of his is expressed by the texture of the play ; but the final impression of the completed play blings all this wealth of matter in our minds into a single intensity of experience, a single act cf imaginative attention, the excitement of which corresponds (so far as we are able to correspond) with the energy of Shakespeare's inspiration.” এখানেও সেই নায়ক, কবি ও সঙ্গদয়ের চিত্তের ভাবসাম্যের কথাই বলা হইয়াছে, যাহা হইতে সাহিত্য-সংজ্ঞার উৎপত্তি । কিন্তু যদিও এই ভাব-সাহিত্যের উৎপত্তি বিষয়ে কবির প্রতিভা ও শব্দার্থ-যোজনায় তাহার কৃতিত্বই মূল উপাদান, তথাপি পাঠকচিত্তের প্রবণতার উপর ইহাব অনেকখানি নির্ভর করে । তাই সাহিত্যের সাফল্যের জন্য পাঠকের সহৃদয়তীও সমানভাবে অবশ্যক । আচার্য অভিনবগুপ্ত এই সহৃদয়তার বিশ্লেষণ প্রসঙ্গে বলিয়াছেন— “যেষাং কাব্যামুশীলনাভ্যাসবশাৎ বিশদভূতে মনোমুকুরে বর্ণনীয়তন্ময়ী ভবনযোগ্যতা তেহজ হৃদয়সংবাদভাজঃ সহৃদয়াঃ ।” 壘 কাব্যাকুশীলনের অভ্যাসবশে যে সকল পাঠকের মনোবৃত্তি নির্মল আদশের ন্যায় স্বচ্ছতা লাভ করিয়াছে এবং র্যাহার কবিবর্ণিত কাব্যবস্তুর সহিত নিজ
