Resolution on Genocide in Bangladesh
At a public meeting in Conway Hall organized by the International Friends of Bangladesh on Friday, June 25th under the Chairmanship of Lady Gifford, the following resolution was moved by Mr. John Platts-Mills, Q.C., and supported amongst others by Mr. Asoke Sen., Barrister-at-Law (ex-Cabinet Minister for Law of the Government of India) Mr. Justice Abu S. Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of the Dacca University and special Envoy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Shakwat Hussain, Barrister-at Law and Lord Gifford, Barrister-at-Law and passed unanimously:
This public meeting resolves to require its conveners to take immediate steps to set up a preparatory Committee with the Genocide convention to ask the Security Council to establish an International War Crimes Tribunal to inquire into the conduct of the Pakistan Government in Islamabad and its military regime established in Dacca and military leaders serving them and try and punish those who may have committed crimes, in violation of the Genocide Convention.
