আমআমদের জামাই কাল আসিয়াছে রামমুনিকে নীতে। তাইতে শাকের ঘণ্ট সুক্তনি আর বড়া বাগুণ ভাজা মুগের ডাইল ইলসা মাচের ভাজা ঝোল ডিমের বড়া আর পাকা কলার অম্ল হইয়াছিল।

হাঁ বুন সেই বৈ আর কে রান্ধে মেয়েরা কেহ এখানে নাই আপনি কাঁচা বাচা নীয়া লড়িতে পারি না। সকল কাজি বড় বউ করে ছোট বৌডা বড় হিজলদাগুড়া অঙ্গ লাড়ে না আর সদায় তাঁর ঝকরা কি করিব বুন সহিতে হয় যদি কিছু বলি তবে লোকে বলিবে দেখ এ মাগী বৌদের দেখিতে পারে না। কিন্তু বুন কালা হাঁড়িপানে চাহিয়া বড় বৌটি অতি ভাল এ সংসারে কায কায করে আর ছেল্যা পিল্যা খাওয়াইয়া আঁচিয়া দেয় আর আমাদের সেবা সুস্থ করে তাঁহার জন্যে আমার কোন ব্যামোহ নাই।

Our daughter's hushand came yesterday to fetch Ram-Moonee. On that account we had greens boiled to a pulp, three or four sorts of fruits and roots boiled together, peas-flour dressed, fried begoons, split moog pulse, fried sable fish soop, the roes crumbled, and the acid of ripe plantains.

The little wife is a grumbling creature, and can't stir herself. She is always quarrelling. But sister, compared with a black pot, [viz. with people in general] the chief wife is a very excellent person: she does the household business, feeds and cleans the children, and pays proper attention to us. I have no difficulty on her account.
